Boxing day in Australia..traditionally a very slow day. No exception this year so with a slight hang-over I sit contemplating the business and the awesome year 2009 is going to be.
This year was all about the site, user experience, content, look and feel etc as well as creating the back end database to stream the odds in (well done Nat). I have to say other than a couple of tweaks (and I'm sure there will always be some improvements along the way) we have done the first part to perfection. 10/10 I give the site and a big thanks to Emu Design in Brisbane for the excellent job. The pressure was on and we have taken delivery of a site that once visited will captivate the sports betting community.
So this is the next step, getting visitors to the site. Certainly from where I sit broken down into 1. direct traffic, someone knowing our site, typing in the URL or linking through say from this blog to http://www.uwantabet.com/
2. SEO, users searching search engines using key words and finding our site.
There may be others but for now my focus is on getting these two fired up in a big way. After lost of researching and reading and asking around, I have decided to explore the possibility of outsourcing the second part to a specialist company who can focus on this for us. We need a focus on certain key words and ones I know we can nail.
So next week I will seeing who's around to help with that. I already have a couple of service providers in mind so see how we go. I think I should be able to find someone who can also provide input on the first part as well....that would be great.

First couple of big wins
Happy to report after 12 months of toiling, setting up the business, establishing relationships with some of the best sports books on the planet, and creating a site to compare their odds, wins are starting to come in. http://www.uwantabet.com/ is in business.
Two members have joined our forum, the first 2 members we have. It might not sound like a lot however it is confirmation that people are viewing our site, like the odds comparison concept and want to be involved.
Second big with is some press coverage int e local paper that we secured last week. Once again a small article however conformation to me anyway that the story of our creation and future plans is of interest to the wider public. The article was in the Westside News Wednesday 17th December 2008.
As the year comes to an end I am starting to reflect, and discuss with Nat our IT manager and shareholder, the way forward for 2009. All said and done it is going to be a big year for our company, as word spreads and users increase, the business is set to take off. Cheers to that.
